French Challenger Energy Team led by Loïck Peyron and Bruno Peyron, have just concluded a license agreement with the American Defender ORACLE Racing led by Russell Coutts. Technology transfer is a key cost-containment feature of 2013 America’s Cup, staged in San Francisco. The French team is licensing a base-line design package for an AC72 class race boat from the America’s Cup champion.
“"The prestige for the winner has more value than any other sporting achievement. It’s winning the invincible and doing the impossible that attracts sailors, dreamers and millionaires, but the victory is not easy, and most of the time it doesn’t ever happen. The only way to win is to continuously participate, continuously return time and time again with the conviction that you can do it." - Sir Peter Blake on the America’s Cup”—http://www.americascup.com/en/Latest/Blog/2012/4/Why-the-Americas-Cup/
“"At each event every team has improved. We’re expecting Luna Rossa, with two teams, to be very, very competitive. Although the AC World Series is new for them, some of their sailors have been competing on other teams and other boats (in the Extreme Sailing Series), so they have great, talented sailors and we expect them to be among the top boats. We also can’t forget about Energy Team who sailed so well in San Diego and obviously Emirates Team New Zealand and Artemis Racing are both solid teams. Every team has improved, it’s just a matter of how much compared to everyone else." -John Kostecki, ORACLE Racing Spithill”—http://www.facebook.com/johnkosteckisailor
