Luna Rossa Challenge first sail on San Francisco Bay
Artemis Racing held a private ceremony today commemorating the memory Andrew “Bart” Simpson.
After eight bells, a wreath was cast upon the water by representatives of ORACLE TEAM USA, Emirates Team NZ, Luna Rossa Challenge and the America’s Cup family.
Then the morning’s rain parted and sunshine spread across San Francisco Bay. Artemis Racing team thanks everyone for their support. Bart, may you rest in peace.
The ‘Built for Speed’ exhibit is now open at the @CalAcademy in San Francisco through September 29th - which includes an installation of a full ORACLE TEAM USA AC45.
Join us tomorrow (May 16th) at the Nightlife event premier (for adults 21+) from 6:30 to 10:00pm; and watch a Q&A with ORACLE TEAM USA designers and engineers.

Torbjörn Törnqvist, Chairman of Artemis Racing, released the following statement today:
“Our thoughts are with Andrew’s family, who suffered a tragic loss yesterday—of a son, a father, and a husband. As our friend and teammate, Andrew “Bart” Simpson was central to Artemis Racing, both in the course of racing and our lives. His presence and personality was a binding force and he will be missed. Right now, the primary focus of Artemis Racing is on the well-being of our team members and their families, and the America’s Cup competition will remain second to that.”
“The entire Artemis Racing team is devastated by what happened. Our heartfelt condolences are with Andrew’s wife and family”
